Mater Private Breast Cancer Centre offers professional, personal service to people with breast cancer, disorders and problems of the breast. The Centres have been established at both Mater Private Hospital Brisbane and Mater Private Hospital Redland to provide expert diagnosis and treatment to people of all ages. Our assessment, investigation, treatment and supportive services are delivered through a multidisciplinary team comprised of:
- leading breast surgeons
- specialist breast care nurses
- radiation oncologists
- reconstructive surgeons
- occupational therapists
- physiotherapists.
Services
Mater Private Breast Cancer Centre provides expert diagnosis and treatment through a number of services:
- priority referral system allows rapid access to the Centre's specialist surgeons. Urgent cases are usually seen within 36 hours and all referrals are assessed by the centre coordinator
- breast-imaging services are available on-site to help reduce patient waiting times
- qualified specialist breast care nurses providing emotional, practical and social support to patients and their families, before admission, during hospitalisation and ongoing support after discharge
- breast, shoulder, lymph and arm care therapy, is available with the visiting occupational therapist at inpatient level and as a post-discharge service
- visiting psychologist available to see patients and their families at inpatient level and after-discharge
- regular consultation with your GP to coordinate medical requirements and support services
- referral of patients to attend the award-winning Look Good…Feel Better sessions held at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane and Mater Private Hospital Redland
- women who undergo mastectomy are gifted two mastectomy bras from fundraiser, chicks in pink
