For further information on your eligibility and entitlements please refer to the Medicare website at www.medicareaustralia.gov.au.

Bulk bill patients

Mater Pathology can bulk bill for tests if your doctor has indicated for us to do so, leaving you with no out of pocket expenses. Pensioners and Health Care Card holders can also be bulk billed on presentation of your card. For this to occur it is essential that you have signed the request form to allow us to bill Medicare directly.

If you do not sign the request form you will receive an account. You will also have to complete the Medicare claim form and lodge the account and the claim form to Medicare—this can be done at a Medicare office or by mail. Medicare will issue a cheque in favour of Mater Pathology and forward it to you. Please send the Medicare cheque to Mater Pathology, together with your pension or Health Care Card number. The Medicare cheque will be accepted as full payment providing all tests are rebatable. Non-rebatable tests will be payable by the patient.
