Pregnancy and parenting workshops

Mater Mothers’ Private Redland offers a range of pregnancy and parenting workshops facilitated by midwives skilled in childbirth education and women’s health.

Our pregnancy and parenting workshops are ideal for women and their support partners expecting their first baby. We also recommend these comprehensive programs if there has been a significant gap between this pregnancy and your previous child.

The programs runs as a weekend intensive course.

These workshops are designed to help prepare you for labour and parenthood.

Areas covered may include

  • safe exercises in pregnancy
  • strategies for reducing pregnancy discomfort
  • the different stages of labour
  • comfort techniques
  • when to come to hospital
  • options for pain relief in labour
  • active labour techniques
  • induction of labour

  • unexpected outcomes
  • a tour of the unit
  • breastfeeding
  • settling techniques
  • the early days of parenthood
  • infant communication
  • infant and child safety
  • emotional changes after the birth of a baby.

Weekend Workshop

The weekend workshop runs over one or two weekends, this intensive option covers all the above listed areas of your last phase of pregnancy, birthing and post-natal care.

When: Two Saturdays per month or Saturday and Sunday

Where: Mater Mothers’ Hospital Redland (details of the venue will be provided upon booking)

Cost: $220 for the entire series. You may also bring your support partner free of charge.
