Hepatitis B immunisation and your baby
Hepatitis B vaccination is part of the National Immunisation Program Schedule and the first dose is routinely offered to all babies at birth, or soon after.
You will be asked to provide your consent for your baby to have this vaccination. The Queensland Government Hepatitis B vaccination consent form requires you to acknowledge that you have read the Queensland Health brochure: Hepatitis B immunisation. What you need to know for your baby. For your convenience, this brochure is available here for you to read.
It is also important to discuss any questions or concerns you may have regarding the hepatitis B vaccination with your midwife or doctor.
Please note that your baby will not be vaccinated without your consent or if it is considered inappropriate at that particular time.
