Baby—safe sleeping

Safe sleeping guidelines

To provide a safe sleeping environment for your baby, the following guidelines are recommended by SIDS and Kids (May 2012):

  1. Sleep baby on their back from birth, not on tummy or side.
  2. Sleep baby with head and face uncovered.
  3. Keep baby smoke free before birth and after
  4. Provide a safe sleeping environment day and night.
  5. Sleep baby in their own safe sleeping place in the same room as an adult care-giver for the first six to twelve months.
  6. Breastfeed baby.

Safe Sleeping

It is important to ensure that anybody who cares for your baby is familiar with the safe sleeping guidelines when settling your baby to sleep.
